Offering service to others is a key quality that proves your leadership abilities. It is through offering yourself, skills and personal resources that determines to others that you can lead them. Leaders who have positively affected their community and made history are known to have served their followers. A good example is Jesus Christ who went to the extent of washing His disciples’ feet despite of him being their teacher.

It is assumed that a good leader is the one supervising other people but I beg to differ. Leadership is also relevant among peers and colleagues. For example, you are a sweeper at your place of work; you can come up with better ways of cleaning and hence catch the eye of the management. So do not disperse your position or status in society. By being initiative, you are a leader in your own capacity.

A good leader also sacrifices for the betterment of the society. Take a good example where you initiate a project, rather than it benefiting you alone; see how others can profit from it too. Therefore, a good leader sees himself as a member of the society. However, someone who is selfish and self centered cannot make a fine leader.

Decision making is a quality that can easily point to a good leader. Many people have good ideas but seem never to come to a decision of implementing the same. Life is about making decisions. Successful individuals are known to make up their minds when faced with a dilemma. Do not be afraid of making mistakes, it is from these errors that you will gain experience hence make an effective leader.
